Michelle Dede made her entry into the Nigerian entertainment scene in 2006. She served as a co-host for the first season of Mnet’s Big Brother Nigeria. The hit reality TV show was broadcast live across the African continent on satellite television. Michelle versatility and multilingual dexterity would see her go on to compere numerous events and product launches.
Her hosting CV includes work for brands such; Maybelline New York, Nokia, UBA, Sahara Group, Red TV, Etihad Airways, The Genevieve Pink Ball, the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, the African Academy Movie Awards, the Africa International Film Festival which she hosted in English and French.
In 2015 Michelle would fulfil a latent interest in acting. She auditioned for and was cast as Tari Gambadia in Ebony Life TV’s Desperate Housewives Africa; the African adaptation of the original ABC hit TV drama series Desperate Housewives. Her performance as Tari saw the acting world embrace her and Michelle would go on to star in more films and television series. In 2017, on Television, Michelle would land the role of Omowunmi Banjo in MNET’s critical darling – Hush, this earned her a Best Actress in a Television Series nomination at the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
A note-worthy highlight of Michelle’s career was co-hosting Ebony Life TV’s flagship show Moments for two years.
On the big screen she has starred in features; Almost Perfect, Dear Mother and What Lies Within. The latter would earn Michelle a 2017 Best of Nollywood Best Actress Award. In February 2018, Michelle would for the second time in less than a year return to the cinemas in a leading role. This time it would be as the titular character – June. The romantic comedy was well received.
Michelle has also performed on stage, she starred in the Nigerian adaption of Eve Ensler’s world renowned ‘Vagina Monologues’ where she portrayed several characters including a Liberian refugee with an authentic accent.
Michelle Dede an indigene of Delta state, Nigeria was born in Germany and raised in Brazil, Australia, Ethiopia and The United Kingdom. Having lived in several other countries including the U.S.A, Italy, China (Hong Kong), France and Zimbabwe, she has a unique world view and can best be described as a global citizen.
